Google’s New Web Hosting Service Suspended Due to Overwhelming Demand

February 24, 2006

Google received a huge response for its new website hosting service and due to this overwhelming response Google was forced to suspend its website hosting services on Thursday.

Google Page Creator was launched this week by Google Inc., the Mountain View, California based Search Engine giant and due to a heavy response from the users of this new service it created a waiting list of the e-mail addresses of the people wishing to use its new website hosting services. Heavy response made the company to suspend the new accounts for yesterday.

The new service includes online tools that can arrange text, images or other types of Web content within pre-built templates in a variety of styles. A person builds the pages within his Web browser in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get environment. It is important for a person to have a Google account with a valid Gmail address. The pages are uploaded by a single click and the URL includes a person's Gmail user name. For example, http://yourgmailusername.googlepages.com. The service has a 100MB limit for pages and uploaded files. The tools are recommended for people who want to build simple, static Web sites. It is not intended for e-commerce or interactive sites.

People who want to regularly update their pages then Google recommends them to use its blogging service, Blogger.
